Here We Are Again

Posted: 07-08-2019

This is our second 4th of July at Fries New River Trail RV Park,Fries VA. This is become an annual event as we made of 2020 reservations before we left :) We got to see many of the same campers as last year and also got to meet some new campers that will be returning next year as well. Its a nice thing when a campground is small, you get to know your neighbors.

Our campsite

This time we were on campsite #1. For those of you that have not read our older posts, Fries New River Trail RV Park is a small immaculate campground, 16 campsites, restrooms, laundry and that is about it. The owners pour their heart and soul into this campground and are super nice people. This is the type of campground that you go to to get away from it all, to bike ride on the New River Trail, maybe tube down the New River or just relax and do nothing but enjoy the scenery.

As always, the town of Fries puts on a July 4th parade at noon, and I mean it is a parade. Firetrucks, ladder trucks, ambulances, tractors, ATV's, antique cars, and even horses. Back at the campground, the owners have an annual cook-out around 2pm and all the campers bring a side dish to share.

The finale of the July 4th festivities is the fireworks show that the town of Fries puts on at 10pm. This is a small town, population of only 400+, but they know how to do fireworks.

A boys favorite thing, rocks & moving water
